Melanoma Center of Excellence

MHN seeks to recognize melanoma treatment centers and doctors across the United States, both academic and community-based, that offer exceptional care, knowledge and compassion to those patients diagnosed with advanced melanoma. The following centers have returned completed applications and been approved by MHN. There are many other centers and doctors across the country that offer exceptional care to melanoma patients. Please encourage these centers and doctors to fill out the one page, NO COST, on-line application so that we may recognize them.

We provide a focus on screening and early diagnosis including community outreach and education. Ongoing clinical research on campus.

The Mitchell Cancer Institute is the only academic cancer center in lower Alabama, also serving lower Mississippi and the Florida panhandle. We provide a comprehensive spectrum of cancer services all under one roof, including Surgical Oncology, Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, Nutrition, Genetic Counseling, Social work. In addition to two busy melanoma surgeons, there is a medical oncologist with a particular interest in melanoma and melanoma clinical trials. There is an active and growing Supportive Oncology program as well. Our cancer doctors work collaboratively with community dermatologists to ensure close follow-up and surveillance of melanoma patients and survivors.
